Dr. Stevenson, an cuii hent mineralogist , and geologist, who was fop many years Assayer in the United States Branch Mint at Dahlonega, speaking of the mineral resources of Georgia, says fine ame thysts have been found in Hall county, For syth and Columbia ; the topaz in Lumpkin ; the cornelian in Rabun ; the beryl in Clarke, and the lazulite in Lincoln, accompanied with splendid crystals of rutile, some weigh ing twelve ounces. The zircon, in great quantity, is found, as an accompaniment of the diamonds, all aiong the belt itacolumite. The kyanite is found in Elbert county, and the chalcedony is associated with the cor-! nelian in Rabun county, as also the amian- 1 thus, or asbestos, of great strength of fibre, and over two feet long. The garnet is abun dant, but everywhere of 41 poor quality.
